The Department of Investment Services is an advisory unit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It is principally engaged in attracting foreigners to invest in Taiwan, guiding local businesses into investing abroad, and recruiting overseas technological talents. To assist foreign investors in investing in Taiwan and Taiwanese companies in investing overseas, the Department actively serves as a service coordinator between the relevant government agencies and overseas offices. The business operations can be roughly classified into the following eight categories:

• Promotion of two-way investment and technological cooperation at home and abroad
• investment abroad guidance and assistance
• Research on investment projects
• Exploration and consolidation of investment opportunities
• Promotion and follow-up of investment plans and removal of investment barriers
• Compilation and publication of the investment environment profiles of countries and investment regulations
• Promotion of technological cooperation at home and abroad and introduction of overseas technological talent
• Promotion and connection of bilateral and multilateral investment affairs
